Williams Fabrication, Inc. (dba Jenfab) is a welding, machining, metal fabrication shop located in the Low Moor area of the Alleghany Highlands. The history of Jenfab is quite interesting, let’s look at how this successful business started. Mr. Phillip Bowen had a vision of owning his own business in the Alleghany Highlands. Originally from Waynesboro, VA, Phillip had worked in the Covington area for many years. In 1994, this vision became reality when Mr. Bowen & his wife Beverly signed a lease for a building in Covington. This building was located across the street from present day Western Sizzlin’ on Valley Ridge Road.

In naming the business, Phillip & Beverly decided to honor their daughter, Jennifer Rachael. They combined Jennifer’s name with fabrication to form Jenfab. Phillip hired 5 employees and officially opened for business in October of 1994. Phillip & his employees worked long hours to ensure the business was a success. In 1997, the Virginia Department of Transportation purchased the building that housed Jenfab, Inc. VDOT planned to demolish the building to make room for an exit ramp off of I-64. This led The Bowen’s to look for land that would be the new home of Jenfab, Inc.

In their search, they found land in the Low Moor area. Just a mile from I-64 at Exit 21, this land was in close proximity to their customer base in Covington, making it the perfect location. In February of 1998, Jenfab officially moved to their present day building at 1201 Commerce Center Drive. By this time, Jenfab was a thriving small business as the majority of their business was from Westvaco & surrounding contractors.

In the 21 years Jenfab has been serving the Alleghany Highlands, Phillip has expanded from just 5 employees to 33 employees. Phillip’s hard work, dedication and business savvy have led to a successful business. Jenfab’s customer base has expanded include customers in the state of Virginia & beyond. Now in his 60’s, Phillip has decided that it is time to begin a new chapter in his life, retirement. In thinking of retirement, Phillip wanted Jenfab to continue serving customers with excellent service.
After many months of paperwork & mentoring, Phillip has sold Jenfab to Tony Williams. Tony is a long time resident of the Alleghany Highlands & also an employee of Jenfab. Tony began his career with Jenfab in 2002 as an estimator. Tony has a vested interest in the success of Jenfab and will carry on the tradition of serving the Highlands with excellence. Those of you who know Phillip, know he will not be able to just retire & stop working. So during the next few years of transition, Phillip has been appointed as manager of Williams Fabrication, Inc. (dba Jenfab). He will continue to work and provide the excellent customer service you all have become accustomed to.
